Faith Through Adversity: A Journey of Hope
💛 Never Give Up – A Testimony of Faith and Endurance 💛
Life is "life-ing."
Friends are scarce, bills are past due, and it can feel like there's no end in sight. You’ve done all you know how to do—and still, you feel stuck. So what now?
The answer may be simpler than you think: stand.
Stand still. Stand in faith. Stand knowing that God sees you, hears you, and will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)
🐾 Footprints in the Sand — A Lifelong Reminder
Growing up, my mother had a wooden plaque with the famous poem Footprints in the Sand. If you’ve never read it, it tells of a man walking on the beach with God, reflecting on the hardest times in his life. He questions why, during those painful times, there was only one set of footprints in the sand. God’s reply?
“Those were the times I carried you.”
That poem has stayed with me because I’ve lived it. Time and time again, when I had nothing left to give, God carried me.
💔 From Nursing School to Near Homelessness
In 2016, just after graduating nursing school, I was too sick to work. I couldn’t hold down a job due to vomiting caused by my failing kidneys. I was told I needed to start dialysis, and I had no income. I moved to Alabama to pursue a temporary license and found myself living in an extended stay hotel—with no way to pay for the next week.
But God. 🙌
I woke up to find not only had I been approved for disability, but I received months of back pay. God showed up right on time.
🙏 He Provided Again…and Again
Years later, I was once again facing financial hardship. My rent and car note were overdue, and I didn’t even have money for food. But I gave it to God—and woke up to a paycheck that covered all I needed and more. Not because I earned it, but because I trusted Him.
🏚️ From Dumpster to Downtown High-Rise
Yes, at one point, I was homeless—sleeping behind dumpsters or inside rented U-Hauls and storage units. Today, I live in a high-rise downtown. People ask why I spend so much on rent. The answer?
Because God brought me from behind the dumpster to the top floor.
I honor Him with my life and my testimony.
🕊️ Loss After Loss, but Still Standing
In just four months of 2022, I lost:
- My younger brother (age 37, dialysis)
- My cousin (age 37, respiratory issues)
- My mother (early 60s)
- My youngest brother (tragically shot and killed)
Yet here I am—still standing.
Not by my strength, but by the grace of God. I’ve battled illness, worked two full-time jobs while on dialysis, and stared death in the face. But I live. I press on. Because God is not done with me yet.
💪 Encouragement for YOU
If you are tired, weary, and ready to give up, I leave you with this:
God is greater than any and every problem.
Only believe.
🎶 As the old hymn says:
“I love the Lord. He heard my cry and pitied every groan. As long as I live and troubles rise, I’ll hasten to His throne.”
🙏 A Prayer for You
“God, I trust You. I believe in You. You are Lord of all, with all power in Your hands. Your Word declares that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I hold onto Your promise that the righteous will never be forsaken. Even when I can’t see my way out, I know that peace lies in the center of the storm. Just like Jesus did, I can speak to my storm and say, Peace. Be still.
Thank You for carrying me through the sand. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.”
